Glenfinnan Monument & Bay

Millions of fans have been captivated by the TV series Outlander, which is set in Scotland, not least of all by the stunningly evocative scenery. If, like Claire, you are enchanted by these haunting landscapes, why not tour of some of the series highlights in a luxury campervan hire and re-live your favourite Outlander moments?

Pick up your campervan hire in Edinburgh, Scotland, where Claire and Jamie reunite after their 20-year separation. Spend a couple of days taking in the sights of one of the most beautiful cities in Europe. Discover why the Old Town and New Town were recently awarded World Heritage Site status, and take a morning to visit Edinburgh Castle.

Inverness & campervan hire

Head to Falkland in your campervan, a charming wee village that stands in for 1940s Inverness in Outlander. Visit Falkland Palace and gardens, as well as the original Royal Tennis Court. Don’t miss the Highland Folk Museum in nearby Newtonmore, where you can learn about life in Scotland during the time period Outlander is set.

Hit Inverness next in your campervan, and while Falkland is used for 1940s Inverness in the TV series, the real thing is so charming, with chic shops, welcoming pubs and historic buildings. The stone circle near Inverness is where the whole Outlander story gets interesting, so don’t miss Clava Cairns, which inspired the fictional Craigh na Dun. Nearby, visit Culloden battlefield, which plays such an important part in the story. Next week we’ll look at more fantastic spots made famous by Outlander that are ripe for exploring in a campervan….
