VW California Ocean Campervan Rental – P2Posted on: August 24, 2016
Explore the stunning beaches of Scotland in a VW California Ocean campervan rental!
We are loving the VW California Ocean- nothing beats it for that feeling of freedom on the open road, and what better way to enjoy the fabulous beaches of Scotland than in a campervan rental from one of the most iconic names in holiday fun?
This week we hit the road in a VW California Ocean campervan rental for the Hebridean Isle of Tiree, Scotland’s “Sunshine Isle”, where the warm Gulf Stream and the awesome waves attract beach lovers and surfers from all over the world. In fact, Tiree boast some of the sunniest weather in Scotland. It is famous for its fabulous beaches and tropical-like climate in the summer. Surfers from around the world make the pilgrimage to “hang 10” and compete in the annual Tiree Wave Classic in October, held this year the 15th-22nd. Nothing says summer like surfing and a VW California Ocean campervan rental!
Balinoe Beach is one of the best places to experience it all in your VW California Ocean from Roseisle. The beach boasts sugary sands, fringed by dunes carpeted with wildflowers and grasses on one side and azure waters on the other- a postcard perfect spot if ever there was one. Surf, windsurf, paddle or just sunbathe- your holiday on Scotland’s Isle of Tiree can be as exciting or relaxing as you want.
This beautiful island provides loads of inspiration for Scotland’s artists, so take the chance to visit Dorinda Johnson’s studio gallery in Scarinish, Patricia Sharp’s studio gallery at Caolas and Tiree Glass right there in Balinoe.

To get there, drive to Oban, and catch the vehicle ferry to Tiree. From the ferry, follow the road up from the pier, at the junction turn left and follow signs to Crossapol, then follow signs for Balemartine. Before reaching Balemartine, on the right is a sign for Balinoe. There is a post office at Balinoe, and the Farmhouse Café in Balemartine is within walking distance. There are services so you can stay stocked up, but you won’t find tacky shops and miles of condos at this beach- so you can enjoy the natural beauty of the island and have that feeling of truly getting away from it all. Balinoe Beach and the VW California Ocean from Roseisle- it’s a match made in tropical heaven!
